Tim Welles
Managing Partner
A founder of Pine Street, Tim is involved with all activities at Pine Street, including deal sourcing, deal structuring, portfolio management and administration. Tim currently serves as a Board observer on Pine Street portfolio companies DynaBil Industries, Inc., AccuMed Technologies, Inc. and Double E Company. He is also active as a Board member of several other for profit and not for profit entities. Tim’s career has included a variety of roles, including as Chief Operating Officer and Board member of Colonial Data Technologies, a $75 million revenue publicly traded provider of telecommunications equipment; Chief Financial Officer of First Albany Companies Inc., a $250 million publicly traded investment banking and brokerage firm; and more than 10 years as a senior investment banker providing advice and capital raising services to small and middle market companies in various industries. He also is a Special Limited Partner in FA Technology Ventures. Tim began his career as a corporate and securities attorney at Cahill Gordon & Reindel in New York City. He is a graduate of the State University of New York at Albany and Albany Law School.

Michael Lasch
Managing Partner
A founder of Pine Street, Mike is actively involved in all activities at Pine Street, including deal sourcing, deal structuring and portfolio management. Mike currently serves as a board observer on Pine Street portfolio companies Healthtrax, Inc and Network Communication Technologies, Inc. He also serves on the board of directors of the Upstate Venture Association of New York. Prior to co-founding Pine Street, Mike was a Director in FleetBoston Corporation’s Leveraged Finance Group in Boston responsible for originating and structuring leveraged cash flow transactions for middle market companies. Before starting his banking career, he served as a congressional aide in Washington, DC. Mike earned his MBA from Emory University and his undergraduate degree from Holy Cross College. He is a 2007 recipient of the New York Capital District Business Review’s “40 under 40” award and is active with several non-profit organizations in the Capital Region.

David Morris
Managing Partner
David joined Pine Street in mid 2008 and is involved with all activities
at Pine Street. Previously, he was a Managing Director at Citizens
Capital, the mezzanine and private equity group for Citizens Financial
Group, where he was responsible for deal flow generation, investment
evaluation and execution, and portfolio management. Prior to Citizens
Capital, David was a strategy consultant for Mainspring Communications.
Before Mainspring, David worked for BankBoston in a middle market lending
group and completed BankBoston’s credit training program. He
is a graduate of Babson College (BS) and the F.W. Olin Graduate School
of Business at Babson College (MBA).

Tony Schmitz
Partner
Tony is a founder of Pine Street and is involved with deal sourcing activities. Tony also serves as a board observer on Pine Street portfolio company Fischbein, LLC. Tony has spent much of his career as an entrepreneur and executive, focusing primarily on creating and building value for technology companies. Tony was a founder/principal of three technology companies that were acquired by publicly listed companies. He currently is CEO and President of Send Word Now, Inc., an emergency notification services company. Tony also serves on the board of directors of StreetEasy, Inc. Tony was formerly on the board of directors of 24/7 Real Media, a publicly traded company that was acquired by the WPP Group in July 2007. He received a B.S. degree in Business and Computer Science from the State University of New York at Albany.

Dave Smith
Partner
Dave is a founder of Pine Street and is involved with fund marketing. He is a co-founder, President and Chief Executive Officer of McGinn, Smith & Co., an investment banking and brokerage firm founded in 1980. Since its founding, McGinn Smith has provided investment banking services to entrepreneurs and smaller companies and investment advisory services to high net worth individuals and institutional investors. Dave has been a partner and/or managing director of investment funds totaling over $450 million. He currently serves as Chairman of the Board of the Empire State College Foundation, a member of the New York State Public University System. Dave is a graduate of Hamilton College.
